Christmas Cards

Hi Friends! I have had so much fun with this DWB Christmas Card Exchange! Just look at all the cards I got:

This really helped get me in the Christmas spirit! I loved reading all the nice, upliftin things everyone wrote. There must be….5,000 cards on that door!

On the other paw, these are the cards mom and dad got:

HEHEHE! My DWB buds rock!

Rusty’s mom here, we got LOTS of cards and ecards from friends and family. These are the ones we got snail mail. Rusty just wanted to gloat over all the mail HE got! 🙂

The Forgotten Dog’s Christmas – a poem

This should be posted at all pet stores
and puppy palaces

FORGOTTEN DOG’S CHRISTMAS
Author unknown

Twas the night before Christmas
when all thru the house

Not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.

The children all nestled snug in their beds
With no thought of the dog filling their head.

And mom in her kerchief and I in my cap
Knew the dog was cold, but didn’t care about that.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Santa Clause with his eyes full of tears.

He unchained the dog once so lively and quick
Last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick.

More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name
and the dog ran to him despite all his pain.

Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen.

To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.

I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa had made one thing quite clear.

The gift of a dog is not just for the season
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.

In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing we missed

A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.

And I heard him explain as he rode out of site,
“You weren’t given a gift, you were given a life.”

Happy Adoption Day To Me!

The 27th of November is extra happy for me because it is my adoption day! Way back in 2006, when I was just a few months old I was living at a kennel because the people who bought me couldn’t handle a puppy. He was sick and she was looking out for him and me. They put me at the kennel and had the nice lady there look for a home for me. Well, my Aunt Sandi borded Cowboy there and found out about me. She got mom to come look and the rest is history! I came home with mom and have been happy ever since!

Lots of Fun!

100_5558.jpgWow! I had so much fun this week. First my human cousin and her mom and dad came to visit me! She didn’t bring Cowboy though. Wish I could have seen him again.  Guess what? She brought me a Christmas present!

100_5403.jpgHere I am with the present. I can’t believe they made me pose with a box when something fun was inside calling me.

100_5405.jpgHere is what Cowboy sent me, it is a play mail truck with a rope on it! Cowboy had one too, but he chewed it all to pieces right away. Anyway, I played with this all afternoon. I kept taking it to someone to play with me and they all played some. Boy was I tired by the end of the day!

A lot more fun stuff happened this week. I’ll tell you about it later. I bet you can’t wait to read about how I almost got a real duck!

Happy Easter Everyone

Rusty’s New Year Resolutions (not all written by me)

Hi! I hope everyone had fun last night! Did you make any resolutions? I did. Well actually mom insisted on some of them being added. See if you can tell which ones she wanted.

1. I will quit looking for tootsie rolls in the cat box.

2. I will study the doorknob more closely and see if I can figure out a way to use it by  myself.

3. I will quit snuffling Dallas so much and let him walk in the door in peace.

4. I will be more diligent in scattering my toys handily throughout the house.

5. I will quit staring longingly at mom and dad when they are eating dinner.

6. I will continue to keep an eagle eye on the squirrel menace in the backyard.

7. I will not try to beat my new toy shredding record.

8. I will not hide milkbones in corners in the living-room.

9. I will find better places to hid my milkbones so mom will not come along behind me and pick them up. ( hope she doesn’t see this one)

10. Fun, I will try to find it an all situations, or interrupt not-fun situations with fun!

OK I think that’s enough. Mom is getting a little pushy here.  Did you pick out which were the ones she made me put in? The NOT FUN ones.
