Dallas the Cat

rustydallas.jpgI have to live with three cats! I know I haven’t mentioned them before, but I like to ignore them as much as I can. All except Dallas. He is the only nice cat here. Not so hissy or prickly! Here we are taking a nap on the ottoman while mom and dad watch TV. Usually they put their feet here but Dallas and I got it first. Mom got this picture so I decided to blog about him. Dallas has been living here a lot longer than I have. Mom said he moved over from across the street. He started going into the laundry room in the carport to sleep. The lady across the street said she didn’t like him because he meowed too much. He does talk a lot, but mom thinks it is cute. He’s a cat, I don’t think that is so cute, but we still get on OK. Mom said if he was going to live at her house he was going to have to get his suit altered, so they took him to Dr. D. He is still here and those people moved. That all happened before I got here. Mom says Dallas is very easy going. He gets along with everyone!

Enough Joy, Back to Work!

short-work.jpgBoy have I been having a good time with Christmas and my blog and all my new friends writing me! I’ve played with new toys, eaten new snacks, been to grandpa’s house with mom, and  shredded things that needed shredding except that new stuffed Christmas squirrel. Mom took a picture of one of my new toys that she pried right out of my mouth and wouldn’t let me finish de-stuffing. She said it took me 2.3 minutes to get the hole in it and start pulling out the stuffing. A NEW RECORD FOR ME!

lookingup3.jpgNow it’s time to get back to work! Here is photographic evidence of my dedication to my job! It was nice today after we got back from grandpa’s so I got to stay out longer. I scoured the pecan trees for squirrels and guess what? I found three! I told them to leave and boy did they skedaddle. But I know that as soon as my back was turned they came right back!

Beady Eyes

rustyxmassq3.jpgThis is my new Christmas squirrel! I was so excited when mom showed it to me that I grabbed it and ran. But mom took it and said I couldn’t really play with it, it had plastic beads for eyes. In my book all squirrels have beady eyes! I see no problem here, just let me have the squirrel mom!! Please!

tennisthingsmpic.jpgHere’s my new tennis ball thing! It’s a lot of fun and it squeaks. Mom throws it down the hall and I run to get it and growl all around it. When dad threw it down the hall is bounced high and bumped into pictures and things. That was exciting. Mom said “DON’T BREAK THE PICTURES! THAT THING BOUNCES!” Dad said, “Well, I can see that.”

Merry Christmas to Me (& You Too)

rustyxmas3.jpgLook at all the stuff I got! I hope you got a lot of stuff too! I’m excited about those real cookies! Rusty’s Mom: Those are really DOG cookies with all natural ingredients, but don’t tell Rusty. And look at that long tennis ball thing, it squeaks!  And Look! A new rope toy with tennis balls on both ends! And things to make my teeth even more beautiful! There are more training treats, but I think those are more for mom. Oh, I like the way they taste, but then I have to do lots of stuff to get them. I also got a stocking filled with cool toys, but that didn’t make it into the picture. Mom forgot.  But best of all is that play squirrel. He’ll be great fun on rainy days when all I can do is practice terrorizing squirrels. Rusty’s mom: Poor Rusty, that squirrel isn’t really for him to play with, it has hard plastic eyes, not very dog friendly. I have to break it to him, so don’t say anything yet. Thanks!  Mom even gave me a couple of bites of ham!! YUM! I wish she’d give me more! She had to do it when dad wasn’t looking because she always tells him NOT to give me people food. He’s way better at giving me people food, he gives me A LOT!

I hope my friends here had a great Christmas with their people too!

Walkies on a Windy Day

windywalk2.jpgMom took me to the City Park for walkies yesterday! It was fun but it was a windy. Can you tell? (click on the picture to enlarge it) Mom laughed and laughed and even dad chuckled some. I think my feelings are hurt. You should have seen mom’s hair when we got back! Did I laugh at her? NO!! I’m a good boy.

Dog Quotes

My friends at 4urpets posted a lot of great dog quotes and invited others to tell their favorite quotes. The first two quotes are for Tinky, Sissy & Jonsey. Mom’s very favorite quote is the last one since we have cats here too.  Mom wants to dedicate the last one to The Aged Cat.  I don’t know what to think about that. Mom loves to read Dave Barry. She says he crackes her up, so one of his quotes about dogs is here. Hope you like them!

I hope if dogs ever take over the world, and they chose a king, they don’t just go by size, because I bet there are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas.” – “DEEP THOUGHTS” by Jack Handy

Even the tiniest Poodle or Chihuahua is still a wolf at heart.” – Dorothy Hinshaw Patent, Dogs: The Wolf Within

You can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, `My God, you’re RIGHT! I NEVER would’ve thought of that!'” – Dave Barry

“The more people I meet the more I like my dog.” – Unknown

The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.” – Mark Twain

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man.” – Mark Twain

Some days you’re the dog, some days you’re the hydrant.” – Unknown

My little dog—a heartbeat at my feet.” – Edith Wharton

The difference between cats and dogs is, dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you.” – Unknown

Another Christmas Card for Me!

cardforr2.jpg I’m so excited! Now I have two Christmas cards. This one was made just for me by one of mom’s second grade students. Can you see the two bones on the front that have been decorated  in Christmas colors? Just for me! Mom brought it home from school today and said that the little boy was real cute when he brought it up to her. They were making cards for family members to go with the gifts they had made in class. This little fellow spent some of his time making one for me. Inside he wrote: I wish you a Merry Christmas. Then on the other side he wrote: to: Ruty from: R…..

Dog Biscuit Recipe

Wow! Mom found a recipe for dog biscuits on the net that she said she was going to try! I get them for Christmas! WOW! She doesn’t even cook much for dad! She said it calls for meat drippings. She won’t baste on much in the way of meat drippings, but they sound good any way. I can’t wait!!! Here is the recipe for all my new friends:

Dog Biscuits

1/2 cup cornmeal
1 3/4 cups whole-wheat flour
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons Knorr intant beef stock mix or their vegetable or chicken stock mix
2 tablespoons bacon bits
6 tablespoons oil
2/3 cup water (approx)]
Mix together well. Roll out to approx 1/4 inch thick and cut out with either your Christmas cookie cutters or use the dog biscuit cutter. Bake 350 deg oven for approx 35 – 45 minutes, basting with meat drippings or bacon fat. When cooled, put them into your homemade dog sock and hang on the mantle for Rusty. Let Rusty open his own Christmas sock this year. Dogs really do like these biscuits. tried, true and tested.

It used to say “Fido” in the bottom of the recipe there but I changed it to say Rusty since I want them to be made for ME!

A Christmas Card! For Me!!

incard2.jpgscan0002.jpgI was sooo excited Yesterday! I got my very first Christmas card in the mail! My cousin Cowboy in Kansas sent it! He and I think a lot alike where squirrels are concerned. Mom let me see it and read it to me, but she wouldn’t let me have it! It reminds me of my very own PTO card. She won’t let me have any of that kind of stuff.

Picture With Santa

rusty-santa2.jpgNeedless to say, I wasn’t too thrilled with this. But I was a good boy and looked at the camera while mom let that STRANGER hold me! This was taken pre-hair cut last Saturday. Has anydog else had their picture taken with this Santa guy?
